Hellow!

Lookee Lookee, I have a new skin!

And my little sister Piper has founded 2 new clubs - the Sunshine Society Mental Health club - Bast knows she needs it!

And then, the club which *I* am interested in.

I always did want a mate, and my Mom and ex-Dad did their best to find me ...

Dear Piper

Well, this may sound a little harsh, but Little Piper, you need to pick up your butt and get to work. There are two sides to a union agreement, and right now you´re getting fed, walkies, outdoors, birdies, bubbles and games. Sure, it´s NOT 24 hours a day. But you are not sitting on laps, ...

Making Important Noises

I was a talker, but never loud. Mostly I talked just to Mom, but other people could get me to talk, too. And it was important that Mom be looking at me before I said anything. No point talking if she´s not listening.

So for those times when she was watching TV or talking with friends or ...

A Symmetry of Geminis

We really were very different kittas, but Grendel and I complemented each other perfectly.

He was a birder, I was a mouser.

I was slender, he was tubby (well, somewhat).

I had a long, graceful tail and small ears, he had a short, whiplike tail and larger ears.

My eyes were ...

The Mysterious Mr. Winds

Well, Piper, I think there are 2 Mr. Winds. They are BOTH invisible.

When I met the Australian Mr. Wind, he really freaked me out - but the Hoosier Mr. Wind was startling, also.

See, all my life, anytime I heard or felt Mr. Wind, it meant WET. Rain. Get the heck inside FAST before I get ...

I´m not sure who this cat is. The face looks like me, but the shoulder and paw - and demeanor - looks like Grendel.

We were both playful kittens. I loved to play "mousie under the covers" and he liked to play "catch the feather" and we both dearly loved to play string.

I think this is ...

Miner Birds - and other birds

Mama had a bit of a cruel streak. When she lived in Indiana, she put the bird feeder 2 feet off the ground! Since she couldn´t discourage the squirrels from eating the seed, she made it so that I had easy access to the feeder.

I wasn´t much of a birder (that was Grendel and Luna´s jobs), ...

Lest you think that all of my talk is of death and dying, I have many other things to share.

Here I am playing in my kitta condo!

I am aged 16 in this picture - I didn´t quit playing until I was too blind to see the mousie. The first time I batted a mousie and missed, I was so embarassed ...

That HangCat Look

You´ve heard of a Hangdog look?

Well this is the HangCat look, Grendel´s classic "give me sympathy" pose. It always got him attention because he would make his glorious self look so pathetic!

His favorite hangcat spot was over the rail of the waterbed. We LOVED the waterbed, as it was ...

Divorce!

The divorce played an important role in our lives.

For one thing, Mom quit sleeping in the waterbed, because every night, ex-Dad would wake up screaming in the middle of the night, every night. Something called PTSD. So for the last year of their marriage, Mom moved into the spare room. ...

The dread suitcase

I hated suitcases, and yet I loved them. A suitcase being packed makes a most comfortable bed. But then the hoo-mans close it up and go away for too long and threaten to never return.

I know, Mama always said she´d be back, but it was never today, or the next day, it was lotsa days! I´m an ...

Why Grendel?

Some people are thinking that Grendel must be an important kitta to me.

We weren´t kin, but we were Gemini twins. We shared nearly 10 years of our lives together - that´s almost half (but only just half) of my long life.

There are no photos of me and Chookums, and there are no photos of ...

Grendel and his tail

Here´s the curlier picture I was telling you about.

Grendel had a funny tail. Mine was long, swirly, graceful and curvy, his was short, tapered and stubby and he had to work extra hard to make it look good.

He used it more intensely than most cats - for communication.

If he wanted you ...

EVERYbody loved Grendel (have I told you that already?)

Here he is, chillin´ on the sofa - that was in the day when you had "pit groups" instead of sofas, but what the hey?

He always curled his tail when he perched somewhere - I´ll have another, curlier photo to show you later.

EVERYbody loved Grendel!

But he could be a blokey-bloke. Sure, he was sweet and affectionate, but as I´ve said before, when he basked in the sunshine, and became God-King of the Sun, you daren´t touch him!

And here, he knows that Daddy is trying to make him look cuddly by giving him a ...

Here is beautiful orange Bonker in the sun on the roof he and I shared.

He´s got a funny look on his face because he´s holding a paper football. The paper football is stuffed with catnip.

He loved his catnip. And here he´s getting a double dose: Catnip in the Sun!!!

Bonkie went with Beth, the lady in this picture.

She was a smart lady and fed him nothing but premium food.

There had been an accident with Bonkie and a nylon rope. He chewed and chewed and swallowed and chewed the rope until it got into his intestines where it perforated them. He had to ...

As you have seen from the photos, my best mate was Bonker, a persian.

Here is a photo of him climbing out of the kitchen, out of that huge 6´ tall by 3´ wide window, onto the roof.

Mom and ex-Dad gave us complete freedom to come in and out of that window and hang out on the roof. (Until ...

Grendel Fishing

For awhile, ex-Dad wanted to have an aquarium to calm his nerves.

Grendel thought this was a good thing.

I ignored the fishtank, even Luna ignored the fishtank, but Grendel couldn´t get enough of it!

His hind feet are standing on a thin oak chair, less than an inch thick, and he´s ...
